Hackney: Craft beer bar opens

A craft beer bar selling a large selection of beers from local breweries is opening in the London borough of Hackney.

BrewDog Homerton will offer a range of craft beers from local breweries such as Brew By Numbers, Kernel and Five Points. BrewDog headliners, which include the infamous flagship Punk IPA, will be joined by a series of small batch beers from the Aberdeenshire brewery. An exciting bottle selection will also be accompanied by a carefully curated pizza menu, paired to the beers on offer.

“We’re excited to finally announce yet another cathedral of craft in London,” BrewDog co-founder James Watt said. “There are so many cool places to visit in Hackney, and with our Shoreditch bar flying the flag for amazing craft beer in the vibrant east of the city, we wanted to ramp up the scene even further with a second venue this side of London.

“Culturally rich and fiercely independent, east London is a thriving epicentre for craft beer, home brewing, and micro-breweries – the perfect place for our eighth London instalment to land.”

Meanwhile, more than 50,000 shareholders have invested more than £26 million in BrewDog’s Equity for Punks, which the company claims is more money taken through crowdfunding than any other business on record. The money raised is funding new bar openings across the globe, including sites in Dalston and York, and a new brewery in Ohio, USA.
