In just three months, Trading Standards have prevented scammers from walking off with more than £6,000 of residents’ money.
The local authority has warned people to be wary of fraudsters after large amounts of scam mail landing through letterboxes, particularly prize draw wins.
These letters state that the resident has won a sum of money and they must pay to have their prize released. In reality there is no prize and fraudsters take money from the resident.
