World leaders still have a way to go to find a compromise on trade, one of the most controversial issues at this year’s G20 meeting, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said.
“I don’t want to beat around the bush, discussions [on trade] are very difficult,” Merkel told journalists on Friday evening, following a session on global growth and trade.
Ahead of this week’s meeting in Hamburg, Merkel and other European leaders signalled that they were ready to take a hard line on free trade with U.S. President Trump at the two-day summit.
